Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let Down Your Hair

So thanks to my lovely friend S. Elizabeth from The Shoe Corner my heart about skipped a beat when I visited her blog today and discovered that Disney is currently making another Disney film...

Rapunzel.
Gasp. Catching my breath again. Do you know how much I love this story?!?!?!?!
Let me just say I CAN NOT WAIT. It comes out sometime this year around Christmas time. That seems ages away!

But I will not {have to wait} patiently, yes I will. :P

As Elizabeth had mentioned, I am glad that Disney figured out that we love our Princess films and that they do well in the theater. By the way I still have yet to see Princess & the Frog. It looks super cute.

After reading up on the upcoming film, I found out that the movie’s visual style is being based on French Rococo artist Jean-Honore Fragonard’s painting “The Swing.”
I can see where they got the inspiration, can you? Beautiful!
These are my absolute favorite two pictures I found after researching {by the way I really need to learn how to draw!}

She's so cute and of course here's her prince...

Oh and I also read on Google that Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi are going to be the Prince's and Rapunzel's voice. This is getting better and better, I loved Mandy's voice in my teens. Have you heard her song Only Hope from A Walk To Remember? Heartbreaking. She will be perfect.
Okay I know no one wants to be stuck in a castle with scads of hair but this castle doesn't look too shabby, right?

So as always I have to have a little moral to my post, so here are my thoughts on the lovely Rapunzel. From what I remember in the story from the age of 12 Rapunzel is stuck in a castle because an evil enchatress keeps her there to punish her parents from stealing from her garden. She does not want Rapunzel to be happy no matter what.

Then one day a prince finds Rapunzel, climbs up her hair, they fall in love, and she finds happiness, or so she thinks. The enchantress tries to keep them away and eventually, like all fairy tales, they find a way to defy all odds {well except sometimes in the true Grimms' fairy tales} and live happily ever after.

This fairy tale got me thinking about things that hold us captive. In Rapunzel's case it was the evil enchantress.

What are some of the things in your life that hold you captive?
Maybe... you have an evil enchantress in the form of a friend who doesn't really love you for who you are and he or she doesn't let the real you shine. You feel as if you stand up for yourself they might start rumors or hurt your character in your personal life or at work.
Maybe... you haven't been able to find your dream job yet and you are sitting in the same office everyday, dreaming of what you could truly be doing if you only made the time to go back to school or get the experience or training needed. Are you truly using your God given talents to the best of your ability?

Maybe... you haven't made the time in a while to visit or call a family member or dear friend that you need to catch up with. You aren't using your time wisely and are carelessly doing activities that don't really matter.

Maybe... you have some emotional baggage that you have been carrying around for a while now and you can't it or the person go. It is eating you alive and you feel like you are constantly are wearing shackles. You know you need to let it go, give it to God, and find hope and a reason to live and love life again.
Maybe...you need to surrender to the beautiful princess that is inside of you. The one that radiates kindness, patience, humility, confidence, self assurance, and great character.

Someone who is a gem, not a perfect one, but who knows what she is worth.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair...

XOXO,

  47. I remember the first time I saw Rapunzel was when I watched The Shirley Temple's Storybook - Rapunzel. It was a 1958 movie; I think it was beautiful. Agnes Moorehead was the witch. The b&w colors made it a little scary at the beginning, but Rapunzel (played by Carol Lynley) was beautiful...it was such a cute movie. I love Disney movies too, especially Beauty & The Beast. I actually miss the 2d animation ones. That's why I want to see The Princes & The Frog too! Lovely post, Sierra. I loved how you used the metaphor of Rapunzel to let us reflect on things in life.
