Sushi, Movies, Ocean, Bike, & Bliss

So this past weekend was amazing!
I hope yours was beautiful too!

This post may be a bit random but
here goes...

Here are the reasons why
my weekend was simply amazing...

I went to RA Sushi on Friday night with
my friend Nicole and it was probably
the best sushi restaurant I have ever
been to! The sushi was out of this world
and the happy hour prices convinced me
to eat three rolls and a martini, yum!
Afterward we went to the film
She's Out of My League for $2.
It was a movie that was good for a laugh,
but I wouldn't highly recommend.
Though the overall message was
nice that one can date & love anyone,
no matter their looks but more for the heart-
the language, foul jokes, and sex content
made it not as appealing for me.
I most definitely laughed though and
it reminded me of 40 Year Old Virgin
or a mild American Pie rendition.

Saturday I worked on my Interior
Design project while watching
Young Victoria.
This quote pretty much summarizes
the romantic essence of the film:

Princess Victoria:Do you ever feel like a chess piece yourself? In a game being played against your will.
Prince Albert:Do you?
Princess Victoria:Constantly. I see them leaning in and moving me around the board.
Prince Albert:The Duchess and Sir John?
Princess Victoria:Not just them. Uncle Leopold. The king. I'm sure half the politicians are ready to seize hold of my skirts and drag me from square to square.
Prince Albert:Then you had better master the rules of the game until you play it better than they can.
Princess Victoria:You don't recommend I find a husband to play it for me?
Prince Albert:I should find one to play it with you, not for you. {sigh}
I loooved this film. Victoria was such
a headstrong and amazing woman.
With Albert they had 9 children
over a span of 20 years
and their love story in my opinion
is one of the best, now that I know
and understand their relationship
according to the film.
I admire relationships where
a man helps improve a woman
and encourages her to follow her dreams.
This goes for a woman too of course,
she should in turn support her man!
Saturday night BK and I saw Date Night
for our date night, lol.
Hilarious!!
It was definitely another movie
that gave me a good laugh.
James Franco and Mark Wahlberg
were definitely added bonuses! ;)
To top off our weekend on the day
that I was supposed to run
the OC Half Marathon
we had a 18 mile bike ride instead!
It did not bother my leg because it was
low impact but we still burned a ton of
calories and not to mention made it
my butt hurt! I have new
respect for triathlon competitors
who bike about 120 miles for their race!
BK has done an Iron Man before so
I enjoy learning all of these tidbits of

information from him...

We biked past Long Beach,
Sunset Beach (above), Seal Beach,
and ate some yummy Mexican/ Caribbean food!
I told BK he comes up with the most perfect dates.
P.S. I don't think I have ever shared
this on my blog but for my very first
gift from BK, he gave me
a bike that he painted pink for me!!
This is a picture of what my bike looks like,
he certainly was very sweet to give
me a gift like this right when we started
dating! What a romantic like me.
Here I am nearly 3 years ago.
My hair was so short!!

Because of our crazy appetite BK and
I stopped by for a Caribbean/Mexican
dish similar to Jerk Chicken when we had
about 4 miles left...
I had never had a Caribbean dish before
and it was sooo good!!

Okay, I think this post has
gotten long enough!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Mine was surely blissful.
Tell me something fun you did,
even if it was just relaxing!

XOXO,

  1. SO ADORABLE! I love Queen Victoria, she was such an amazing queen (after all no one quite knows the historical era names quite as easily as they know the Victorian!)
And I love that your first present from BK was that pink bike. You two are too too cute!

  2. What a fun weekend! I like your bike, and that sushi does look soooo good! I'm glad you got to go biking; it's a good alternative when you can't run, and your pit-stop sounded perfect.

This weekend, I went to a baseball game with my girls, beerfest with my boy, and lunch with the fam. Good times, and gorgeous weather!

  21. So glad you had a fun weekend. That picture of the beach made me want to pack my bags and come live somewhere that I can ride my bike next to such beauty!

I love this statement you made:
    "I admire relationships where
a man helps improve a woman
and encourages her to follow her dreams". Truthfully, I think if all relationships (on both ends) thought this way, so many marriages wouldn't fail.

  23. Sushi!? You're a girl after my own heart. Seriously, lovessss it.

She's out of my League looked like the typical comedy movie that was mediocre but full of sex jokes and foul language (not a fan). Date Night - yes, yes yes! I saw your tweet and I was happy you were going to see it, I loved it.

Wow. You can run a half marathon? You are bad ass. I love a good run/workout but my schedule's been really making sure that doesn't happen lately.

Glad you had a fun and eventful weekend :)

  24. That sushi looks amazing! And I so want to see Date Night. You're one of many who have seen it and loved it. I need to go!

  25. What an amazing weekend! I wish I lived closer so we could run and get sushi, because that sushi looks amazing! I'm glad you had such a wonderful weekend. That was such a sweet gift from BK and it's even sweeter because he took the time to paint himself knowing you like pink. Too cute.:) I really want to See that Victoria and Albert movie. I like Emily Blunt, and I think the guy who played Albert was in Pride and Prejudice as Mr. Wickham. At least, he looks like him anyways. Definitely want to see Date Night, too. Glad you got to get out and go biking. We'll have to catch up soon! :)

  26. Don't you love weekends filled with food ;) The chicken at the bottom looks amazing!
I haven't seen any of those movies before but I definitely want to see The Young Victoria one. I adore period movies.

Your pink bike is so cute! And well done on riding this weekend. I must, must, must get my butt into gear.

  27. Wow that sushi looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! :) Sushi is my favorite food in the world. I love your pink bike too, that was so sweet of BK to give that to you right away! My hubby and I went to a fab plant sale on Sat, then he bought me a cute dress and then we went to a Sushi happy hour. A great day and it was beautiful in SF. :)

  28. How cute that he painted a bike pink for you! i'm with you on the movie thing about being gross and ruining it. I really don't like foul humor. It makes me kind of embarrassed.

  36. It sounds so amazing! I adore sushi, and I have been to Ra! It's sooo good but I do have a place in San Diego that I think I like better! You are making me miss SoCal so much and I'm craving Mexican food. :) The Mexican food in NorCal is NOT the same and not nearly as good as SoCal! Also I really want to see the Young Victoria, thanks for reminding me to get that this summer. :):) What a wonderful weekend, thanks for sharing!
