Handmade Scarf, Labor of Love

Hello Ocean Dreamers!
I hope you are having a lovely week.
Today I'm off to a friend's wedding
and I'm all ready dressed to go
so I thought I would get some blogging in!

Do you like my new blog layout?
I slaved away in creating a layout that I felt
was more me and I like how it turned out!
I was tempted to buy a layout from some of
the amazing designers out there, but with my
knowledge of Photoshop from the two classes
I have taken I decided to take the plunge and
create and I'm pretty happy with the way it
turned out. :)

I've been making some Christmas gifts
this season to cut back on expenses and
even though it's time consuming I love the look
on friends' or familys' faces when they open
up a handmade gift.

One of the gifts I loved making was a
crocheted scarf for one of
my close friends, and
since I've been skipping around on
Reverb10, (shame on me!)
I thought the question
from December 6th prompt that asked
"What was the last thing you made
and what materials did you use?"
went perfectly with this post.
  The materials I used?
Well, I used purple and beige yarn,
my handy The Crochet Answer Book, and a hook.
Then I crocheted a way! It took many, many hours.
I had to model it near one of our Christmas trees
and by the way, my Grandma hand stitched every
single ornament that you see on the tree.
After finishing the scarf over a marathon of
(which by the way I had never watched
and it was quite entertaining,) I finished
off the scarf by intertwining multi-colored
ribbon on the end...pretty!
It needed some pizazz!
Since I knew this amazing scarf and I would
be parting ways, I decided to have some
pictures taken of me with my labor of love.
Now for the compete outfit with boots and leggings...
I thought I would spare you the before
picture where I look short...
(you can see it at my It's All About Boots
post at JoeShopping.)
 Tada!

The last part of the Reverb10 question asks
"Is there something you want to make
but you need to clear some time for it?"
Yes there is!
I want to make a handmade journal for
my mom, a romantic card for BK,
and a mitten paper book with pictures
in it for my grandparents...
I better get busy!!

Are you working on any handmade
gifts for Christmas this year?
TGIF and have a fabulous weekend.
XOXO,

  2. I really need to sit down and teach myself how to crochet- usually I finish two rows and then screw it up from there.lol. But I hear it goes quicker than knitting (which I still only know how to make simple scarves). Your scarf looks awesome!

  3. Nice header! I think it reflects you well. Great job on the scarf as well; you've impressed me! I'm not a sewer or knitter or anything like that, so I certainly admire those who are. I'm sure your friend is going to love your labor of love that came out so well. I like the color combinations!

  6. I LOVE the new layout! I also love that you're making homemade gifts, they are so much more thoughtful and that scarf is gorgeous.

So what else do I love? The tree with the ornaments made by your grandmother, something to treasure for many years to come.

I'm working on family cookbooks for my kids, filled with family recipes, photos and stories. Really a fun project, but I don't think they'll be ready in time.

    Enjoy your weekend too! XOXOXOX

And super awesome job on the scarf... I don't think I'd have the patience for that.
I love making fleece tied blankets for people. I'm not too good at much else, but who doesn't love a cuddly blanket, right!?!?
