guest post by Belinda - original fashion pieces

Hi Ocean Dreamers. Today you will be meeting a wonderful blogger named Belinda. I can't believe it is the middle of the week already! Thanks for all of your sweet comments on my CA recap post.

Update on my Grandpa:
Please continue to keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. My Grandpa has been moved to a hospice to be taken care of. I know God will take care of him no matter what happens, but we don't know how much longer he will be with us. We thought he was doing better but it turns out he still is suffering and not doing as well as we had hoped. You never know what happens so though I have chosen to remain optimistic.

So let's give a warm welcome to Belinda and I'll be back with more pictures on my trip to San Francisco in a few days! :)

Hi, everyone! I'm Belinda. Nice to meet you! :)

I'm so glad that I can guest post on Sierra's fantastic blog today. I've been reading her blog for ever, and it always cheers me up with all her optimism.

If you don't know me, I blog compulsively at BforBel, where I spend my days scouring the internet for things that aim to amuse, fascinate and excite. And then I share those feelings with the world! My topics range from home and living, to technology and gadgets, to art and photography, and everything else that makes you go OOoooooOOOO...

So today, I'm going to introduce some quirky, original fashion pieces that make others stop and compliment you on them. Who doesn't love that, right?

When it comes to my fashion choices, I look out for a quizzical look on people's faces when they try to figure out what it really is, and their excitement when they do. And then I know I made a right purchase :D I usually buy my stuff online because that's where the most quirky and adorable pieces are at! Plus, it's usually cheaper. Here is a compilation of some of my current favourites :)

1. Disney Couture Drink Me Necklace
I basically love everything from Disney Couture because I'm such a huge fan of Disney. But most Disney pieces out there are a little too kiddy and not really meant to survive my negligence. This Drink Me necklace is reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland's eccentric theme, without being overwhelmingly colorful, and it's a lot more sturdy and trustworthy than say, a Belle necklace from the Disneyland souvenir store. The bottle stopper can also be removed. Cute!

2. Marc Jacobs Mouse Shoes
I am a proud owner of one of these shoes (thank goodness it was a gift because the price tag is way too steep for me), and I wear them almost everyday. Despite what they say about expensive shoes, this pair is uber comfortable and I've never had to "wear into them" even when they were brand new. Plus, they give me lots of compliments from strangers (even kids!) in the lift.

3. Ceramic Fish Buckle with Reversible Pink and Patterned Belt
I don't usually fancy belts because they go under my list of uncomfortable items that I need to stay away from, but this is just too adorable! It's from an Etsy shop and there are lots of other animal shapes and fabrics that you can choose from. It was really hard to choose just one photo to show you guys.  Also, it's reversible so you can flip it around and match it with a completely different outfit! Don't you love multi-functional things?

4. Volume Brooch
This is a quintessential example of what I mean by fun, quirky pieces. Definitely going to bring about a deluge of volume jokes too :) It's also worth noting that you can dial it up to 11 instead of the usual 10.

5. Charlotte Olympia Cat Shoes
Another pair of adorable shoes that look really high fashion. These cat shoes can be found in the form of ankle-strap, super-high, leave-you-teetering wedges, or classic pumps and flats. They'll compliment your mouse shoes, too. Bound to leave you with new friends and acquintances.

6. Circuit Board Ring
You can show off your geek side with this circuit board ring. Also an example of how broken bits of anything can become art.

7. Plink Stop-Water Rings
The workmanship is just stunning on these rings! It was inspired from water photography, and won the "Best of Bijoux" prize in the "Best Innovative Design" category at Macef, September 2010. There is also a more sturdy, metal "droplets" alternative if you're not the most careful lady in the world. It'll work as a great conversation starter and make you seem super artistically inclined :)

8. Golden Hour Glass Necklace
Since I was a kid, I've always been fascinated with hourglasses. It's just so relaxing seeing sand passing through that tiny hole from one end to the other. But then I get bored quickly because the hourglasses I used to look at were 2/3 hour ones. This wee hourglass necklace is a great statement piece, and you can always use it as a measure for time and speed. "Be back in my hourglass time, or else!"

I hope you guys enjoyed this collection. You can always find more interesting things at BforBel :)

Thanks for letting me guest post, Sierra! I had a lot of fun :)
