fashion trend: tipped out hair

Hi Ocean Dreamers! I hope the start to your week is going well! Mine is going quite well! I spent the weekend at the cabin in Idaho with my family and we went to Yellowstone, and Ennis, Montana. They had a art show going on there and it was such a blast! I didn't take very many pictures but I might do a post on it, we'll see.

I have a lot of writing projects that I'm working on (which is a huge blessing) and I also have some good news, so stay tuned until the end of the post to see what the good news is! I know, I'm such a tease!

So lately I've caught on to a trend that I am loving. I've always had the fantasy of having color in my hair and before because I worked in an office I obviously couldn't dye my hair pink or do anything fun. Plus - I've always had the fear that it wouldn't come out of my hair, lol.

So I'm considering getting colored tie dyed tips in my hair. I haven't told BK or anyone yet so you all are the first to know. The good news is that it is only at the bottom part of your hair, so if you get tired of it you can cut the two inches off. However, my hair is still short (I've been growing it out) and I can't really spare the 2 inches which means I would have to wait until my hair is longer, lol. It's great now that I'm a freelancer that I have the liberty to do funky things with my hair. So we'll see.

What do you think of the hair tipped trend? Would you do this to your hair?

{found on The Beauty Department blog}
This is Lauren Conrad's hair by the way!
So here are some pictures that I found of actresses and models who are sporting the tipped hair look. They all look gorgeous in my opinion!
Kate with her Ombre/Tie Dye hair
The yellow actually looks quite fabulous in this Japanese fashionista's hair!
This is a little bit more than tipped hair, but the pink is so sweet and sassy!
Even Free People is getting in on this trend.
I am in LOVE with this models' partial tips.

I'm still giving Miss. Rachel McAdams the award for beginning this trend a few years back. I've always been in love over this fashion editorial of her.
Mr. Kate actually provides a tutorial on how to do these hot pink tips.
Katy Perry's hair isn't actually color tipped, but I still love her use of pink and blue.
 This picture cracks me up.

So the good news is...I'm headed to CA for a quick visit in about a week for a week! I hadn't planned on it but I love when the unexpected takes place. I can't wait to see this lady. Can't wait to see my love!!

So what do you think of this tipped hair trend?
Would you do this to your hair?

I personally like Lauren Conrad's rainbow hair tips the best.
Do you think I should do it?

  1. I think I more like the random strands of hair being colored vs. just the tips.

  4. I cannot wait to see you, too!!! :)

About the hair...well, I would just go with one or two strands of color rather than the tip. I was at a salon today and they had that instead of the whole bottom...looked way better. Purple and blue are the colors apparently. Didn't see anything else and I loved what I saw. :) Didn't do it though. Hehe.

See ya soon pretty lady!!! :D

  5. I love LC's hair! I would love to do it with my hair but being a teacher I can't! I really want feather extensions too! I may be able to get away with that!

I think your hair would look great with maybe a light color (just one). It's easy to fix too!

  6. omg that's such a cute style!! would totally do that to my hair if it was light a foot longer. I don't think it would look good with my medium and layered cut now.

  9. I LOVE this look on Lauren and most of the girls here (minus Katy Perry's, I think hers looks a bit cheap). If I tried to dye that myself oh lordy it would look bad, but I love it and I agree about Rachel! I have always loved that pink she did!!! I'm so happy for you that you're getting to go to CA, yay!

  11. I'm not sure, to be honest. If you feel like trying, perhaps, the best way is to use clip-in hair strands in colours you like, coloured hair spray or similar product on a few strands or semi-permanent colour, but not colour your hair completely. Not only it's quite a stress for the hair, but the problem with shades like this is that they are VERY difficult to remove - you'd either have to colour your hair in a dark shade or cut those bits off.

  12. I think you should give it a go if you want to do it. I don't think it would work with me but I think it could be great with you! So go for it!

  15. What a fun look! I like the random strands of color and the tie dye tips. One big pro for the tips - if it turns out badly or you can't get the dye out, you could always get a trim.

Hope you have a great trip to Cali.

Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday! xoxo

  16. I loooove this trend. I wish I could get away with it, but I think my hair is too dark to dye. Sigh.

    PS. Yay for Cali! <3

  18. Soo funny, because I posted about this a few days ago! I'm debating it, too. I did make a hair appointment for Tuesday, so we'll see if I actually go through with it. I think you should do it, too! It's so great looking!

    I'm loving your blog, girl.

  19. Wow, I had noticed the tips on many celebs but didn't know it was such a strong trend. It's great that its only on the tips and its optional to cut off. I'm always an advocate of trying new things and change is good. Good luck sweetie! Keep us posted. xoxo
