hot or not - kawaii Japanese fashion

Ever since I went to Japan in 2003 and again in 2005 I've loved Japanese fashion. There's something so electric and free-spirited about their style. They honestly have no fear in regards to color and accessories and I love it. I love learning about different cultures and so to understand in particular where the trends came from in Japan, I went hunting for an explanation. I came across a website called Electric Alice, which has a great explanation of many different styles so I thought I would paste a description of one style below:
{Here I am with one of my Japanese friends back in 2003.}

Himé Gyaru or "Princess Gal"

{via Electric Alice}

The look:

"Himé Gyaru, or "Princess Gal," is an offshoot of Gyaru style, which uses heavy eye make-up, tanned skin and huge curly bouffant blonde hair to imitate American California girls. Himé Gyaru takes this aesthetic and gives it a royal edge. Clothing is almost always white or pink, often with lace, flower and heart motifs. Accessories such as miniature crowns, long silk or lace gloves and pearls are popular, and shoes are usually strappy heels or open-toed heels with large rose decorations." - via Electric Alice
Of course there are several other styles other than "princess gal" which I just mentioned above, such as Fairy Kei, Lolita, Gothic Lolita, and Mori girl, which is also known as "forest girls." Read up on Electric Alice's style guide and see if you can identify what each style is below without looking at my answer below the picture.  :)

 Here are a few other styles that I adore and
I think are so fascinating to study and look at:

So know that you've gotten a taste of Japanese fashion,
what do you think?

Is it too eccentric for you or is it fun and full of flavor?

I loooove Japanese fashion and definitely think it's hot.
 Now I want to go back to Japan right this minute.
Oh man the sushi is good there.

P.S. Find more Japanese fashion photos on my new board on Pinterest.

    And it's not easy to maintain this whole style...haha! But hey, why not!
