11 iPhone shopping apps for price comparison - guest post by Stephen

Imagine buying an item at X price at one place and then finding out that the same item is available for much lesser elsewhere. It’s so confusing to make the right decision once you enter a store. That’s why you need a clever app to check and compare prices before you throw things into your trolley.
{via}

1. Milo
Milo helps you find the best local price on any item, by scanning real-time availability data. For example, if an item is not available at a local store yet, Milo will let you know, so you don’t have to drive over only to be disappointed. You can also scan barcodes, read reviews and product descriptions before purchase. Milo includes a handy map, which helps you see which nearby stores carry your desired certain product. Use this app to compare prices of the same product in different stores. You can also pay for it via your PayPal account and pick up the product later.
2. Google Shopper
Google Shopper helps you to search for and gather information on billions of products. Browse according to subject, browse results and scan barcodes or cover art to find out more. You can read reviews and get the best prices online and retail before you purchase. You can also view product videos and detailed product specs to help you decide on more expensive items. You can also save items in your shopping list and share it with other shoppers, friends and family.
3. Price Check
Price Check comes to you from Amazon; this app can help you compare prices from Amazon and its affiliated merchants. You can search for prices using voice, text, barcode and even pictures – there’s no limit. You can use this app to directly purchase an item using Amazon Prime and Amazon’s 1-Click ordering system. You can also share products with your friends on all major social networks. If you find a better deal than what Amazon has, you can even inform Amazon about it through this app.
4. RedLaser
This app can scan QR and UPC codes to compare prices on hundreds of local and online retailers to find the item you want. Using this app, you can browse coupon deals, store your loyalty cards and purchase your item directly. You can also check out the products other RedLaser users have purchased, and look up similar items to your recent purchases. You can create wish and gift lists, and share loyalty cards with others via this app.
5. PriceGrabber
PriceGrabber focuses more on online stores rather than local retailers. Using this app, you can easily find out if you can get an item for less online than in your local shops. You can go through millions of products stored by thousands of online retailers and get the best bargain online.
{via}

6. CompareMe
CompareMe Shopping Utility use percentages to calculate the very best deal out there. By using this method of price comparison, CompareMe can help you find truly mindblowing prices, both online and local retail. It also informs you of special deals pertaining to the items you want, such as coupons, discounts, buy 2-get-1 and so on.
7. ShopSavvy
Scan product barcodes and search local retail and online stores for your product; view estimated shipping prices and incidentals as well, so you can get the final pricing picture. Read reviews on products and retailers by other users. You can even get their input on the price you’ve decided upon and directly purchase the item by loading the ShopSavvy "wallet" with cash.
8. Groupon
Groupon offers you a price break on every imaginable item, including restaurant deals. You can purchase items directly from Groupon, apart from checking out a billion products, prices, reviews, and people’s shopping history and so on.

10. The Find
You can scan and search, compare prices and shop for the best deals using this app. You can do a price comparison at top retailers as well. Create shopping lists, review coupon codes and shipping deals, find out the best local stores and set up price alerts for the items you’ve scanned. PriceGrabber
11. Decide
Review recommendations on product, pricing and purchase time from other customers and experts before you make your purchase. If the item you purchased is sold at a lower rate within the next two weeks, the Decide app team will pay up the difference. You can use the app’s barcode and QR scanners, set price alerts and search through thousands of retailers and sites for the products you want using Decide.

exercising on a busy day - guest post by Valerie

Exercise, like sleep and eating right, is critical to a healthy life. But it's not always so easy to get. Busy work schedules, busy family life, a busy social calendar: All of this spells busy, and that applies to most of us. It may be our No. 1 excuse for why we can't exercise. There's just too much going on, all the time.
{via}
But something has to give. If we want to live long, healthy, productive lives (and get everything done), we simply have to work out when we can. If that means getting a little creative to work exercise into our cramped daily routines, then so be it. Here are a few ways to make sure you find time to take care of your body without cutting the other things that matter from your schedule.
1. Do Calisthenics
Done right, a good combination of intense calisthenics every day can provide most of the exercise you need. That's right, we're talking the old-fashioned way here: push-ups, sit-ups and jumping jacks. Exercises that use the body, not kettle bells or weights, as resistance. According to The New York Times, the use of calisthenics as a core workout regimen is experiencing a rebirth of sorts, pulled from the bag of drill sergeants past. It's not perfect. It will maintain but not build body strength, and it doesn't replace cardiovascular exercise. But there's one great thing about it: You can do it in your bedroom, in your hotel room, anywhere you like, any time of day.
2. Take the Stairs
Whether you work on the eighth floor of a high-rise or the second level of a two-story building, always try to take the stairs if you can. Climb both ways, down and up. If you live or work too high up in a high-rise building, consider getting off the elevator part way up (or down) and climbing the rest of the way. Not only do you get the exercise, you save the money and time you'd otherwise spend on a stair climber or gym membership. Which isn't to say you shouldn't use a gym, only that the stairs are there for the taking.
{via}

3. Walk, Don't Drive
Walk or ride your bicycle wherever you can. If you have to drive to work, park as far from the building as you reasonably can and walk the rest of the way. If your office is too far to reach by bike, see if your public transit system allows cycles: You might be able to ride part way, put your bike on a bus rack, and take the bus the rest of the way. New York City is notorious for its thin people, and one reason may be that they do so much more walking than residents of any other city in America. When you have no car, your body often ends up the better for it.
4. Partner Up
Get some of your exercising and your socializing done at the same time. Buddy up with a co-worker for a lunchtime walk of 20 or 30 minutes. Join your fiancé for a pre-work run. Use each other for motivation and make the time go by faster. When you have someone to help, you'll find it's easier to squeeze exercise into your routine.
{via}

5. Exercise On the Go
Don't give up your routine just because your geography has changed. Use work trips and family vacations as an excuse to hike, jog, run, bike or exercise somewhere new. Involve your family or coworkers. Exercise outdoors and see the natural sites. Even a day trip is an opportunity to see something new and get in a workout.
Our daily lives are busy, and it's hard to fit exercise it. But we can't expect to live long, healthy lives without it. That means we have to do what we can to find the time. These simple steps should make it easier to fit exercise into your busy schedule.

how to look and feel your best this spring - guest post by Bella

These days, many people rely on cosmetic surgery to feel good. Liposuction, tummy tucks and breast enlargements are popular, but you don’t have to go under the knife to look sensational. A few simple style changes can make all the difference, so here’s how to revamp your image this spring.

Recycle your wardrobe
{via}

If you’ve been wearing the same tracksuit, jeans and tops for a while now, it might be time to hit the shops, but you don’t have to spend a fortune. Revive some of your old wardrobe staples to create a brand new look for this season. Bermuda shorts, retro dresses and over-sized jackets are bang on trend, as are bright fabrics, beaded materials and sheer tops. If you’re not sure where to start, sporty frocks suit athletic women, whereas the peekaboo designs show off curves in style. Chunky beads and statement handbags are also a must-have this year, so don’t forget to accessorize!

Refresh your makeup
{via}

It has been a long, cold winter so far, but spring is the perfect time to brighten things up. Vibrant cosmetics went down a storm during the Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Week, so refresh your makeup bag and revitalize your style. Bright red lipstick proved a hit with Burberry, Prada, Missoni and Oscar de la Renta on the catwalks, so instead of buying new why not re-use that old favorite scarlet number from last year. Green and blue eye shadows were also prominent and were finished off nicely with thick eyeliner and liberal amounts of mascara. If standout shades aren't your thing, subtle foundations and peachy blushers were also used by Dolce & Gabbana, so learn how to achieve the natural look.

Make the most of your hair
{via}

If you don’t have a team of hair stylists at the ready – fear not! This season is all about simple, chic looks, so have a go at the knotted pony tail, create rock and roll waves using your hair straighteners or simply plait your locks into numerous braids. Finish with blossoming flowers, over-sized beads, sporty hairbands or silky bandannas and you’ll be ready for the season ahead. If you’re trying out one of the retro dresses available this year, old-fashioned hair scarves with checks, stripes or spots could also perfect your look, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

Spring is a great time to try out a wide range of styles, so revitalize your image and feel fabulous throughout the warmer months.

10 do's and don'ts of a successful internship program

An internship program is successful when it helps young interns and your organization to benefit mutually. There are many Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to designing a successful internship program, pertaining to legalities, PR, HR and so on. Read on to know more.
{via}

DO’s
1. Look For Interns Who’ll Make Good Employees
Set up high standards at the very beginning; this will help you interview and shortlist the right candidates for an internship. Whether you ultimately hire your interns as employees or not, it’s good to look for those who have the potential to prove themselves as good manpower investments down the line.
2. Offer Paid Internships If You Can Afford Them
For both legal and ethical reasons, it’s best to offer paid internships, unless you’re a nonprofit organization. By choosing not to pay, you’ll be leaving out a large section of the talent pool who cannot afford an unpaid internship. Unpaid internships are illegal in some states, so be sure to do your due-diligence in this area before hiring.
3. Offer Alternative Benefits If You Cannot Afford To Pay Them
If you cannot afford to pay your interns, it’s wise to compensate them in other ways. Consider offering valuable additional training, course credit, transport allowance, food allowance, and residential benefits and so on. Be on the same page with the dictates of labor law in your region.
4. Offer A Professionally Enhancing Experience
The intent must be to offer an excellent ground for training and experience, even if you don’t plan on hiring them as employees later. Assign tasks and projects that will help your interns learn important industry-related aspects, and not just projects that benefit your company.
5. Streamline The Internship Program Effectively
Paid or unpaid, it doesn’t help anyone to be too flexible with an internship. Establish rules and guidelines for up-front commitment right at the beginning. Your interns must know their start date, end date, hours of work, stipend rate, working hours, notice period and so on. There should be no confusion.
6. Establish Clear Lines Of Authority
Assign your interns to supervisors, and establish guidelines for reporting, writing reports and so on. Make sure each intern knows what is expected of him or her. Set clear rules pertaining to project and task management, and the penalty for wrongdoings and irresponsibility.
{via}

Don’ts
7. Don't Overload Your Interns
Evaluate your staff’s current responsibilities and time limitations carefully before assigning interns to them. An overloaded staff member will not be able to give an intern the deserved time and attention. This will only adversely impact the entire internship program.
8. Don’t Take Advantage
Yes, young interns are usually raring to go and would want to impress you more than anything. That doesn’t mean it is ok to take advantage and assign additional work, especially on weekends and off days. There are legal guidelines concerning interns; it’s best to review these with your lawyer before hiring.
9. Don’t Extend Internship Period
In most states, it’s illegal to spend more than 6 months at an internship, especially without pay. If you want to retain your interns beyond this period, you must pay them a full salary. The best programs are designed for 12 weeks; if your projects are not completed by then, consult your lawyers about extending the program.
10. Don’t Start A Program Without Consulting
Before you start the program, consult with the Cooperative Education Coordinator of your local university. Also consult your legal advisors, your State’s employment and internship laws and so on. All of this will give you the support and guidance you need to create, evaluate and market your internship programs.

a guide to Bundaberg, Australia for adrenaline junkies - guest post by Deep

Bundaberg is all about water and water adventures, given the Coral Sea and the great expanse of the Great Barrier Reef at hand. There’s tons of exciting things for the adrenalin junkie to do - diving, coral swimming, snorkeling, sailing, boating and other extreme sports. Read on!
{via}
Game Fishing
You can go freshwater fishing, big game fishing or inshore saltwater fishing depending on your angling skills. There are plenty of salmon and trout to delight the avid fishing enthusiast. Charter a boat and fish for one of those great Barramundi sharks Bundaberg is known for.
Skiing and Snowboarding
Head to the ski fields for some snowboarding and skiing fun from June and October. Enjoy the marvelous scenery as you go cross country skiing, downhill skiing and stunt and sports skiing.
{via}

Water Sports
The coastline stretches for thousands of miles, providing much opportunity for speed sailing, surfing, rafting, and jet-skiing, kayaking, sailing and much more.
Rough And Tumble 4WD Adventure
Test your 4WD skills on the rugged surface around Coongarra Rock and the Goodnight Scrub National Park. Try the sugar-fine white sands of the Norval Park, Woodgate and Burrum Point beaches. Explore the Burnett, Capricorn and Wide Bay regions on 4WD. Camp out in the wilderness after a day of rigorous navigation on some very rugged surfaces.
{via}

Caving in Coongarra Rock
Explore rocky outcrops, go caving, dive into deep rock pools and tour the Coongarra Rock and Falls area on a 4WD. The rock here is meant only for experienced bushwalkers and climbers to try.
Scuba Diving
Sign up for a scuba diving tour to various sections of the reef. Not to miss areas include Hoskyn Island, Lady Musgrave Island, Fitzroy Reef, Llewellyn Reef, Fairfax Island and Boult Reef. Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Great Barrier Reef up close. Scuba diving here is an excellent way to try newer depths, because the waters of the reef are clear and you can see quite a distance down.
Shore Diving
Go shore-diving in the Barolin Rocks site in the Woongarra Marine Park. Shore diving is challenging – you have to time it right during low tides. There are plenty of rocks along the coastline, and diving among them during high tide at night can be a dangerous challenge. The reward is, of course, seeing all those colorful corals up close, along with the chance to watch smaller reef fish, rays, pelagic nudibranchs, turtles, wobbegong sharks, moray eels and sea snakes.
Challenging Bushwalks

The Cania George National Park is full of gorges and caves with aboriginal freehand art. There are easier ways to get there, but you can opt for the most challenging 5.6 kilometer track that goes through towering, ochre-colored sandstone cliffs. The amazing vegetation, wildlife and scenery will be your reward.
Other Adventures
For the adrenaline junkie, there’s also bungee jumping, white water rafting, canyoning, gliding, horse-riding, paragliding, hunting, mountaineering, jet-boating, skydiving, hot air ballooning and much more. Sign up with a good adventure tour operator to enjoy these and other high-octane activities.

why celebrity hair always looks amazing - guest post by Sarika

When we look at those perfectly done heads of hair in the media many of us may wonder what it is that makes celebrity hair look at good as it does.
{via}

So what is it that keeps celebrity hair looking that good all of the time? We look at just some of the reasons why:
1.   A Personal Stylist – Part of the celebrity job description is looking good and photograph worthy all the time. A host of people are involved in this exercise for looking good. A personal stylist will not only take care to see that the celebrity is dressed in clothing that reflects the latest trends but also the personality of the star. This involves enhancing their natural assets and playing down the faults.
A very important aspect of getting great looking hair is to make sure that the style, color and cut suit the face structure and shape as well as the natural coloring of the person. So a lot of expert advice from stylists goes into making celebrity hair look the way that it does.

2.   Constant Care – Taking good care of hair by getting regular salon treatments and protecting hair from the sun are part of the reason that celebrity hair looks as good as it does. Highly experienced experts to cut and style the hair make sure that this is so all of the time.

3.   Using Good Quality Products – Using good quality hair care products that protect and nourish the hair and prevent hair breakage is another facet of great looking hair. You could well say here, that it would be good to be able to afford the high end hair products and the stylists and you wouldn't be far wrong.
{via}

4.   Being Fit and Eating Healthy – Celebrities that work on their health and fitness will likely have great quality hair because good health is a part of healthy hair. Healthy food habits and regular exercise keeps not only the body fit but also the hair; so perhaps having a personal trainer is a good idea for all of the body, including the hair!

5.   Hair Extensions and Other Artifice. Celebrities can and do have access to artificial hair aids such as extensions, hair pieces, wigs and so on. So all that lovely hair you see may not even be their own! The unflattering photo may at times show visible hair extensions and other evidence of borrowed hair!
{via}

6.  The Friendly Neighborhood Photoshop Program – computer generated enhancements are another poorly kept secret about celebrity hair. The celebrity hair that you see on the cover of that magazine may not really be as rich a color or as luxuriant looking as it seems. It could be the result of some touching up not just on the salon chair but also on the screen of a computer by a talented Photoshop artist.

So it isn't just that a lot of time, effort and money goes into making celebrity hair looking as good as it does, there is also quite a bit of artifice and even some trickery involved!

Grammys fashion favorites

I'm in sunny CA and all I want to do is head to the beach. Before I head to the beach and soak up some sun, however, I wanted to write this post and give you a quick recap on some of my fashion favorites from the Emmys Red Carpet.

I didn't get to watch the Emmys live on Sunday evening but I did get to catch up and watch them on Monday and Tuesday morning before I took off to CA. I do have to say the music collaborations this year were out of this world! I am also so glad that JT is back. He sounded better than ever {and not to mention looked better than ever too in his Tom Ford suit}!

Beyond the music and giggling over JLo feeling self conscious over her Angelina brazen leg {why do it if you're afraid to flaunt it?!} I saw her chat with Ryan Seacrest before the show on Entertainment and she was definitely self conscious. I would be too though lol!
{Miss Miranda Lambert in a Roberto Cavalli red carpet gown}

And as for my country girls: I loved seeing Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Miranda Lambert. I have to say that my country girls were my favorite, even though I have to admit that Ri Ri looked amazing as well. Carrie Underwood wins hands down with her dress and her performance of Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs because it was downright AMAZING. I also loved how her dress changed colors with different stunning images.
Taylor Swift also pulled off a beautiful gown that I thought was a lot more different than her normal everyday frock or special event gowns for that matter. Usually Taylor goes simple and this dress had just enough originality and "pop" to make it stand out on her. It wasn't my favorite dress of the evening, but I thought it was nice to see Taylor wear something different for a change. Taylor you're still my favorite regardless. ;)
When Carrie's dress started "moving" and transforming
during her inspiring performance on stage
I was in awe. It went perfectly with her performance
and whoever thought of that idea was brilliant!
I was also excited when Carrie won an Emmy
for her song "Blown Away". I remember
listening to that song over and over when
I first purchased her album. It was and still is SO good!
Katy Perry and Rihanna also looked beautiful at the Grammys.
Katy wore a green Gucci gown and
Rihanna showed up in a stunning Azzedine Alaia dress.
Out of the two which was your fave?
Oh, and let's not forget this adorable couple,
John Legend and his fiancee Christine Teigen.
She is so exotic looking and appears to be so sweet!

Did you get to watch the Grammys?
What did you think of the show and the fashion?

Have a great start to your week Ocean Dreamers!

the key advantages to shopping online on a regular basis - guest post by Kevin

As our lives get busier each day, a mundane activity such as shopping, especially for commodities on a regular basis, becomes a difficult task. After spending a whole day working hard, people find it difficult to take out the time and energy to go shopping every few days, cutting back on the limited leisure time they get to spend.

With time, the trend of online shopping has become highly popular among people, especially those who spend most of their time working. The increasing popularity of online shopping is not surprising. With the numerous advantages of shopping online, it is no wonder people are getting enticed by it. For those who haven’t caught up with the trend yet, here are some benefits of shopping online to convince you why you should go this way:
{via}

Convenience
This is definitely a no-brainer. The biggest advantage of online shopping is the convenience of getting things delivered at your doorstep with a few clicks. Whatever you need, no matter at what time, you can get it delivered to your place without having to go to a store and wait in long lines to get it. Even in the middle of night, you can find a service that works 24/7 quite conveniently.

Lower Prices
Another advantage of shopping online is that you get better prices and cheaper deals most of the time, especially if you order from the manufacturer directly, since it takes away the distribution costs. Many times, you can also find several discount coupons and sweepstakes being offered online which can further save you money. All in all, getting something online can cost you far less than getting it from a store.
{via}

Wide Variety
One of the best things about online stores is that they offer a huge variety of products. These stores affiliate themselves with a lot of suppliers, therefore bringing together an array of products and brands together in a single place. Even if you want something that is from another country, all you have to do is to place an order and it will be delivered to you. Whether it is product, design, colour, size or any other aspect, the variety offered online is unparalleled.

Far & Wide Delivery
From your own house, you can place an order for anything and have it delivered anywhere in the world, not necessarily your own house, a perfect reason to send gifts online. No matter where your friends or family members are, you can send them a gift right on time for any occasion without having to worry about the long distance. From flowers and chocolates to more customised gifts such as canvas prints photographs, anything can be ordered online.
{via}

Privacy
If you like to keep your shopping preferences private, it is far better for you to look for them online. Things such as sensitive prescription medicines or something private such as lingerie is best purchased online since it can save you from the embarrassment of having everyone know what you bought.

With all these benefits come some disadvantages as well. The most key concern regarding online shopping is security of your personal data. While it is true that security remains a major concern, online marketplaces today are far more secure than they were in the past. All you have to do is be careful and take a few necessary precautions to avoid getting into trouble. If you are careful, the habit of online shopping for most of the convenience goods can save you from a lot of hassle.
