Holiday Cleaning Checklist: Keeping Your Home Clean and Tidy

I don't know about you, but I've been doing a lot of cleaning this past week! BK came to visit Candy and me in Arizona, and I had to deep clean and tidy up the place not only for BK but for my parents as well, who are staying at my place over the holidays. Whew! If I would have stayed on top of my cleaning even more (disclaimer: it's not that I'm a messy person at all lol,) then it would have been a lot easier. Here are some great holiday cleaning tips. Merry Christmas Eve!

With the holidays just around the corner it may seem impossible to keep your house clean and tidy. The kids are constantly bringing friends over and family continuously is popping over at your home just when you have time to spare. Despite the craziness of the holidays you can’t put off cleaning inside your home. The more you put off the small cleaning tasks that you can take care of the more buildup, dirt, and muck you’ll have in your home. Stay on top of daily cleaning tasks by doing them right away and sticking with a plan. Here are some ideas on how to keep your home clean. After all, it’s important to prevent rodents, bed bugs, and other pests that can show up when sheets aren’t changed, food is left out and there isn’t time to clean.

Kitchen

The kitchen is an important area to keep clean because this is where termites and other pests can show up. You can clear out the sink by staying on top of the dirty dishes. Move any dirty dishes into the dishwasher and if you don’t have a dishwasher clean the dishes as soon as possible and set them out to dry. Wiping down the countertops and stove is another quick task you can take care of. Use a sponge with an all purpose cleaner. Wipe down problem spots on the floor as well and get rid of spills and sticky spots. Also, if you have clean towels that have yet to be folded take a few minutes and fold them and put them away. Unfolded towels can look messy in a tidy kitchen.

Bedroom

Keep your bedroom tidy by making your bed daily and it’s also important to change the sheets on your bed once a week or every two weeks depending on if your kids go to bed without showering sometimes. Bedbug prevention is simple if you keep your bedroom and other rooms tidy and clean, so having the family clean up after themselves daily is important. This should also include clearing away any clutter you may have. You can also fold and put clean clothes away that may be still lying on your bed or in the hamper. Straightening up the night-table surface is another quick task that can keep things clean and help you feel more relaxed in your bedroom.

Living Room

This may be the most challenging room of all to keep clean, depending on where your family likes to hang out during the holidays. Start small by tidying the sofa by fluffing the pillows and folding the throws. Pull out your handheld vacuum and concentrate on the surfaces that are in plain site: coffee table, sofa cushions, and rugs in the middle of the room. After that you can use a moist cloth to wipe down streaky or dusty hard surfaces. You can also keep things tidy by straightening coffee table books and magazines. After you’re done with these tasks don’t forget to clear away major clutter such as video games, toys, and anything else you or the kids can trip over.

"She looks like a little candy marshmallow"

(via)

"She looks like a little candy marshmallow...."

That's what a neighbor lady said today at my apartment complex. Candy and I were walking by her deck after our walk (Candy clearly likes to walk me since she walks so fast) and the neighbor lady's little Yorkie was barking. I asked her if her dog was a Yorkie and we got into a conversation about how she rescued her pup named Meme (super cute name by the way) and yes that's how you spell it, and I told her Candy's name. She immediately said she loved the color of her hair and said "she looks like a little candy marshmallow."
What she was was not only sweet, but it summarized how I felt about Candy's personality and beautiful hair without me not even knowing it. My neighbor lady conveyed what I felt and said it in a perfect way. To me with that simple quote she reminded me just how sweet my little Candy is.
BK once said I shouldn't have named my little miss Morkie Candy, because she is so sassy. However, even though Candy is sassy and a "tiger" as BK likes to say, she is very sweet too. She curls up on my lap while I work and seems to know when I'm having a hard day. She'll even lick an area on my leg or foot that's in pain and look at me with concern with her big puppy dog eyes. Candy really is my candy marshmallow is more ways than one.
She's oh so sweet. After she gets groomed she smells like cotton Candy and she smells oh so good. She looks like a marshmallow with it's golden brown and blonde coloring. She melts my heart and I can't think of a better pup to love with all of my heart.

Caring for Your Beautiful Skin During the Winter

Dry skin during the winter time is never fun to battle with. Just when you think your skin is moisturized and looks beautiful once more, your dry skin comes back. If you live in a dry climate it’s even more difficult to keep your skin moist and looking its best. Not to mention if you live in an extra chilly climate you have cold and dry weather combined to deal with. Instead of feeling like there is no way out of dry and cracked skin, here are some techniques that should get your skin back in excellent shape in no time.

Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin really is the key to getting rid of dead skin cells and allowing new skin to grow in its place. You don’t want to scrub so hard that you damage your skin, but you do want to scrub regularly so that new skin will emerge. Exfoliate your fact, arm, legs, etc. and do this at least every other day when you take your shower. If you have dry feet you may want to purchase a pumice stone or another tool will help you take care of extra rough skin.

Facial and Cosmetic Surgery

Besides exfoliation and moisturizing, you may have some impurities you would like to remove on your skin. Whether you crave small beauty enhancements or cosmetic surgery techniques finding a healthcare team and skincare specialists you trust is important. Minimally invasive treatments are also available from skincare specialists. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and improve your face and more with a treatment that will enhance your skin.

Invest in a Recommended Moisturizer

If you find that your current moisturizer isn’t doing the trick perhaps the reason why is because it’s not the type of moisturizer that works well with your skin type. Do some research on the recommended moisturizers and be willing to invest some money in a great product such as Kiehl’s or Oil of Olay. You can also make an appointment with a dermatologist and ask them what they would recommend for your skin type. Once you are trying a new moisturizer that is recommended don’t switch to another one right away if you don’t think its working. Give it at least a month to work its magic on your skin.

Use Sunscreen, Even During the Winter

Many people make the mistake and think just because the weather is cold they don’t have to wear sunscreen. It’s quite the opposite actually. When the sun is out you always need to be careful and avoid UV rays for extended periods of time. If you have a job that’s out in the sun wear sunscreen every day. You can put sunscreen on your face and the rest of your body and in addition you can wear makeup that has sunscreen in it. Remember to apply sunscreen regularly because if you’re outside and sweating the sunscreen will come off. It’s up to you to make sure your skin is protected so you won’t get skin damage or worse skin cancer later in life.

Happy Thanksgiving, Mockingjay, and Dancing with the Stars

Happy Thanksgiving! How was your time being thankful?

I know I'm a tad late at wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving, but my family has been visiting in Arizona and it has been busy, but fun. We've been enjoying one another's company, celebrating Thanksgiving, celebrating my cousin's Birthday tonight at a favorite sushi spot, and tomorrow is my sister in law's Birthday. My brother and her aren't married yet but I'm so close to her I consider her my sister. :) She'll be 21!

Have you seen Mockingjay yet? I saw it last weekend and I thought it was great. It makes we want to read the books all over again though because it has been so long that I'm starting to forget what happened in the books compared to how it is all playing out in the movies. At the end I felt super sad for Katniss because of Peeta, but that's all I'll say if you haven't seen it yet. This movie was more emotional for me for some reason. It seemed darker and the games really had taken their toll on Katniss by now. They did a great job portraying the desperation and pain from all of the characters. I can't wait to see Part II and hope Katniss gets some of her happiness back.

I also got hooked on Dancing with the Stars this season and really wanted Val and Janel to win, however I was still happy that Alfonso and Whitney won because they worked so hard and absolutely deserved it. Val and Janel had amazing chemistry throughout the show and I'm still finding myself watching their videos on YouTube late at night. ;) They were that good. And I don't care about the rumors. I think they are dating in real life and didn't make it up on the show. I mean come on -- you can't make chemistry like that up!

I love them together and hope they are still together in real life. I also can't wait to see Janel on Pretty Little Liars in less than a week during their Christmas special. Her costumes look amazing on the holiday spooky show.

Well that's all for now. I'll be back later with some Candy updates!

Thoughts on Beyond the Lights

Last Friday I saw Beyond the Lights and I thought it was really sweet, romantic, and inspirational. I went to the film with zero expectations, but just by the preview and from what I read online prior to going to the film I knew it was going to be good.

I wasn't disappointed. This film did an incredible job weaving together a beautiful love story without making it overly cheesy. I also love that the focus wasn't only on the love story. It was also about Noni letting go and truly loving herself. That's my kind of movie.

Noni, played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw impressed me the most. This actress is very real and genuine on the big screen and she played Noni beautifully. The transformation of Noni at the beginning to the end was truly astonishing. She went from a sad and desperate woman to a woman who bloomed and embraced who she was.

I liked how this movie touched upon depression and desperation and how much of Hollywood suffers from this. After all, haven't we lost many stars to depression, drugs, and alcohol? Big super stars hide behind their pain and don't seek help. I can't imagine to have that kind of pain and have to hide it. Nani did and thank goodness Kaz, played by Nate Parter helped her come of her pain by "seeing her" and embracing who she truly was.

I won't say more because I already feel like I'm spoiling the film (sorry and I won't reveal how it ends!), but you really need to see it. I really felt like I identified with Noni because she struggled to find herself and didn't know how to do it. I went through a time like this in my life when I was 25, and once I learned how to let go and love me for me, then I was ready to fly.

As for the love story, it was beautiful. The actors had great chemistry and I also liked that this film was not focused on the love story as its core, like I mentioned above. Yes they helped one another and yes they fell deeply in love, but it was more than that. It was about a healthy love while still loving one self. To me this means not necessarily having your entire identity wrapped up in that person. Oh and I LOVED how they had the ocean element. The ocean (and God for me) is always healing. Always.

To elaborate more on my thoughts above, to me you can be in love with another person but it is still just as important to embrace yourself. In other words, don't lose yourself in that person. Stay who you are and allow that person to enhance you. You are more than your love story.

That's why Beyond the Lights resonated with me and was a touching love story. Love just isn't between two people. It's also okay to have your own love story. You need to be true to who you are, which means you should never allow anyone to take that away from you. You are in charge of who you become and you need to follow your heart -- always.

Happy Feet: Preventing Foot Pain from Hiking

{via}

Now that the weather is cooling down if you like to get exercise outdoors hiking is a great way to get you moving. However, hiking can come at a price if you don’t take care of your feet and ankles. To eliminate foot pain and treat existing injuries there are certain steps (quite literally) you can take ahead of time. A few include visiting a podiatrist if you have an existing injury, wearing lightweight and breathable shoes, buying and wearing socks that provide enough cushion, and removing your shoes and elevating your feet if you plan on going strenuous and long hikes. Take care of your feet and ankles and you will enjoy hiking injury free.

What to Do If You Have an Injury

If you have had a previous injury or currently have an existing injury take it easy. Hiking is possible if you take care of your feet and ankles going forward. A podiatrist in Kansas City can diagnose and treat many types of foot and ankle injuries such as stress fractures, tendinitis, ankle sprains, and more. If you’re not sure what the problem is make an appointment and get a diagnosis before you do a lot of hiking and outdoor activities. The last thing you want to do is cause additional harm to an injury that’s already causing you discomfort.

Take Frequent Rest Breaks

If you don’t have any injuries it’s still important to take frequent rest breaks. If you hike on uneven terrain or long distances your feet will hurt and swell. Why does this happen? Your blood flows to your feet in response to the constant movement of your feet stepping again and again on the rocky trail. To counteract the pain and swelling, especially if you’re going to be on a really long hike, take your shoes off and elevate your feet during every single break. This will help your feet feel better, and allow the blood to drain back into your legs and get rid of swelling.

Lightweight and Breathable Shoes

Hiking shoes may seem ideal to wear when you’re hiking, but if you plan to go on a lot of hikes look for comfortable shoes such as cross-trainers and trail-runners that are better suited for both shorter and longer hikes. Lightweight boots that won’t cause blistering is important and at the same time they should also provide ankle and foot support. When picking out a hiking shoe also look for a pair that is flexible, breathable, lightweight, and of course fits your feet well. Don’t forget to also buy a shoe that is a half a size larger so that when your feet swell your shoes won’t feel too tight.

Choose Socks with Cushion

Just like the shoes that you choose for hiking, you should also select a pair of socks that are breathable and have cushion. Your socks are what will provide protection from abrasion and also help decrease the impact your feet receive while hiking. Find a pair of socks that aren’t too thick and provide plenty of comfort to your feet. What’s more your socks can come up over your ankles a bit; keeping out debris should you ever fall. Overall enjoy your hiking and keep your feet and ankles strong and injury free!

Create The Perfect Family Room Without Breaking The Bank

Spending quality time at home with your family is a very important part of every person's life. Considering the extremely dynamic lives most people lead, sometimes it can be very hard to find the chance to spend a good amount of time with your folks and do something together as a family. But when you do have the time, it's best to this cosy place at home that is specially designed for everyone in the family. A family room is the area at home where all of the members gather and spend a nice time together. Creating such a room doesn't necessarily have to mean a big investment or breaking the bank. It is absolutely possible to establish a family room on a budget and create a lovely location at home for all of you to spend quality time together. Here are some tips on how to successfully turn a room into the perfect family room without spending a fortune.
{via}

Purpose Of The Family Room

When creating a family room, one of the first things you have to consider is the purpose of the room and how exactly you expect it to function for you. A family room might include an area, where you sit at the table and have a meal as a family, or you prefer to use the kitchen for this purpose. Normally, a family room should be designed to please every single member of the family, which means that the place should provide activities that they whole family likes. This might include board games, TV, DVD system or anything else that all of you like to do. However, another good idea is to design the room in a way that would give every member of the family the chance to enjoy individual activities that they personally prefer. For example, if you like to watch TV, your kid likes to draw and your spouse likes to read a book, you can easily combine all of these hobbies and place them in one room. In this way, all of you can spend time on doing something they like and at the same time – enjoy each other's company. Of course, this is not exactly the same as spending quality time together but becoming part of the the idyll gives you enough of pleasure when seeing your beloved ones near you and everyone is peacefully enjoying their own favourite activity.

Comfy Seats

One of the most important factors when setting up a family room, is to make sure that the area is provided with comfortable places to sit or lie. If you have children, they would most certainly enjoy sitting in big plush chairs, which are not only comfortable but attractive as well. Big cushions on the floor is another great option, which allows every member of the family to sit comfortably on the floor, cuddling in a large cushion. The best part is that they are very affordable and yet bring a lovely cosy touch to a room.

Activities

Once you have decided on the activities that are favoured by your family members individually and all of you together, it's time to supply them. Check for some interesting board games, cards, boos, magazines, video games , music and anything else that you might enjoy spending time on.

Treats Zone

A good way to make the family room even more welcoming, is to create a special zone for treats. Place a small table in the corner of the family room and put on it some sweets, fruit, hot chocolate, juice, tea or whatever you like, where your family members can go to for a small tasty treat.

Cleaning

It's unnecessary to say that the cleaner the family room, the cosier it is. That's why, it's important to keep it clean and in order if you want to spend more quality time there and enjoy your time indoors. To cope with the cleaning chores even more easily, you can even turn the cleaning process into a family game. Give your children and spouse different cleaning tasks and tell them that the one who is ready with theirs first, receives a prize. It's a win-win situation.

Decorating and Organizing a Laundry Room

When it comes to decorating your laundry room, you should approach it like any other such subject – with lots of finesse and tactfulness. You want your laundry room to be both fabulous and functional and no compromises are allowed. Even though you probably won't invite people there (I certainly hope not) you still need to make it nice and cozy for yourself. And what can be more fabulicious than...
{via}

Adding a few shelfs

It baffles me beyond measure why people don't add more shelves in their laundry rooms. A few stainless steel shelves with a nice artificial counter top on your washing machine will open a lot of extra space for you to keep your laundry detergent and fabric softener on. They will also give it that simplistic look we enjoy so much, especially when we see it in movies. Furthermore, they are easy to clean and especially durable so there is nothing to worry about. It's the perfect combination between functionality and aesthetics.

Making the place look bigger

Unless you live in a mansion, I imagine your laundry room is pretty small, like most. However, there is a way to make it look bigger. All you have to do is make use of light, colors and tones. The lighter they are, the better. Decorating with wood or metal (depending on your preference) will give the place that unique feel you are looking for and this is the sole reason for decorating the room in the first place. You can add a few personal touches to make it feel truly unparalleled.

Adding a few baskets

You can add a few baskets to the place. It's delightful how well they blend in with any interior. In order to make this more functional, you can add several baskets of different sizes around the room and keep different types of clothes in there. Instead of keeping all the clothes in the same basket, you can have one for sheets, another one for white clothes, another one for colored clothes, one for socks, etc. This way it will be easier for you to plan your laundry and you will be able to see what's building up at the moment, essentially combining beauty and efficiency once again.

Make sure everything “hits the wall”

You want everything in your laundry room to be right next to the wall. You want your washing machine to be in a center place and you need to be able to easily move throughout the premises. You must make it so that noting is your way and when you are in the middle the room, everything is literally an arm's length away and everything is really easy to reach. This way the room will look neat and you will be able to do everything really easily because all you need will be easily reachable and the lack of obstacles on the way will significantly improve your efficiency.

Cabinets and drawers

{via}

Adding cabinets and drawers can be either used as an alternative to the shelfs, or better yet – as an addition. The cabinets will give you even more space to work with inside and if they're wooden or light in color, will make the place look and feel bigger, combining utility with style. They are also easy to be cleaned and you could use the services of Battersea local cleaning if you don't have time to do it.

Lighting

Make sure the place is always well lit. This way it will be easier for you to do your laundry but it will also give it a more lively look and feel. Otherwise it might end up being that dark closet you hate walking into because it's small, annoying and dark.

The Floor

A nice floor comprised of white or light tiles will additionally provide the place with a neat and tidy look, while at the same time matching the rest of the room. A wooden floor would be irresponsible, since there are chances that water might fall on it and damage it.
{via}

If you put all tips into use, you should have a much easier time doing laundry in a room that actually makes you feel great.

my little miss Morkie

So here I am again. Picking up blogging again. I could be better with consistently blogging, but I'm a firm believer that you should only do something you enjoy doing, so hence that's why I blog when I would like to. I blog for so many of my clients that I get wrapped up with my writing jobs that I love, but I also need to do what I love the most on my little blog space too and just blog for me. So here I am trying this again. ;)

A lot has changed. I've fallen in love with a Morkie named Candy. I've moved to Arizona. Work is awesome and I love traveling to California to visit my love BK while he's getting another degree.

But back to my little miss Morkie...she truly is my little love. I don't know a life without her now. Life is so much better with her in it. She's my road buddy, my best friend, and my comforter. She's playful, full of life, and she makes me smile. BK has fallen in love her, and I have too. She's so easy to love and if I never have kids (who knows what the future will bring) I will be content just being a fur mama to Candy.

If you're on Instagram I started an account for Candy called @littlemissmorkie. I hope you'll follow along. I'm @paigeone4u if you'd like to stay up to date with me there as well. I'm a better "blogger" on Instagram, but I'm going to try to blog on here more often as opposed to always having guest posts. However, my guest posters are still welcome! ;)

I'll be back to update you more on life and Candy, but in the mean time do you like my new layout? I thought my blog needed a little revamping, now that my life has changed for the better. Not that I had a bad life before, but I'm so blessed to have little Candy added to it. Life is good.

I can't wait to share more of my little Morkie with you all, and I plan on reviewing some fabulous doggie products too! Don't worry, I'll still have fitness, fashion, and interior design, and ocean dreams posts too.

Top Tips and Tricks to Save Money at Home

We all have moments in our lives when we spend a lot of money on things that we don't really need. Looking back at those moments later we feel sorry but there is nothing we can do to change the past. However, there is a way to make our future better by learning from our previous mistakes. If you've also decided that from now on you will try to save more of your money, then we have a couple of interesting tips on how you can do that by starting from your home.

The place you live in can serve you as a beginning since this is where you spend most of your time and possibly the money you earn. It is true that the home must be comfortable and nice looking but that doesn't mean that you have to invest everything you have there. In fact, there are many things you can do to reduce your monthly expenses for your house or apartment and you will be surprised how beneficial will be their final effect.

{via}

·         DIY cleaning products
The cleaning supplies are a necessity for the home which you buy on a regular basis. They are usually not expensive but when you look at the total you spend on them for the year, it turns out that the sum is not so little as you think. Fortunately, you can put the beginning of your money saving with DIY cleaning products, created with ingredients you have at home which are strong and effective enough with the cleaning as the store-bought ones, City Cleaners London aim. The elbow grease, for instance, is easy to find and has as lot of useful qualities to provide ideal cleanness. Mixed with water is a powerful weapon for cleaning mirrors, tiles and all types of glass. The beeswax will be a great wood polisher, if it is combined with vinegar and hot water. Now that we mentioned it, the vinegar is the most powerful tool for complete sanitation of every surface or object, so use it as often as you can.

·         Energy efficient home
Investing in more economic appliances like a slow cooker, for example, will reduce the consumption of energy drastically. This appliance will make your home more energy efficient and will provide you with better tasting food. Windows which are double glazed will make your property more peaceful and will lower the electricity bill shortly after you put them in your place. If it is possible, you can replace your electric stove with the more economical one which works with wood. That could be convenient only if you live in a big house because the wood-burning appliance needs a lot of space. If you have a lot of openings and leaks in the home, better track them down and try to block them. This way you will keep the heat indoors and will make your place energy efficient.

·         Take care of the home repairs yourself
If a problem occurs in your property or if you decide to do some renovations, don't rush into calling the professionals because this means only more expenses. Instead try to fix the problem yourself. Tasks like changing the light bulb or mending the sink pipes are not so difficult and you can do them. For the more complicated repairs, however, better call the experts to avoid any further damage and complications.

The money saving is not so hard, if you are willing to do a little more work yourself. A month after you start applying the previously mentioned tips and tricks in your home, you will feel the incredible difference. Not only will the indoor environment of your property change but your bills will be reduced, too. You will have more saved money and will feel better about yourself.

Practical Tips on Getting Hired

Being without a job is certainly not only risky, but absolutely terrifying while living in a city or by yourself. You know you can only count on yourself and that nothing you do can alleviate that. While different jobs have different requirements, all of them share some basic characteristics when it comes to obtaining a position within a company. The following tips aim to provide a simple, yet useful set of rules to follow during your job searching phase. We begin with:

Organization

Being organized is one of the most important aspects of a proper job search. You must keep track of the places you're interested in. A good way to do that is to create an spreadsheet that has columns for company name, position, job posting link, materials given, date of application, follow-up date and some notes. You can use this to track all relevant information as well as the feedback you'll get from the company in question. Without the proper organization you'll lose track of your progress and your success rate.

Researching

The best way to get hired is by being informed and in the know about your target company, the nature of its business, positions and the industry said company is part of. You must do a significant amount of research on each position before applying so you can be absolutely confident during an interview. Keep things in mind, such as the goals of the company, the successes of its past, the requirements and duties of the position you are aiming for, the background of the person interviewing you and so on. In today's information age you may find a whole lot on someone in completely legal ways. Knowing personal details, such as successes and projects your superiors may have worked on will let you gain a unique perspective, allowing you to focus on areas they may find part of their requirements.

Social Networking

In today's interconnected world social networking is becoming a major tool in job hunting. Job seekers today can interact with companies looking for employees worldwide. Setting up accounts on websites such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook can serve as a way of contacting the professional community out there. You can show your dedication by keeping in touch with the updates of your target company and their projects and developments.

Networking

Now we're talking about the more traditional form of face-to-face networking. Without the proper connections in any field you will face huge difficulties trying to get through to a certain position. Social networks are but a part of this essential part of how the business world works. Knowing the right people and helping them can in term serve as a way of helping you on your way. Simply having a network of contacts can help greatly when looking for a job.

The Follow Up

The easiest way to deal with job applications is to fill them out, submit them and then await a company's response. Fire and forget, right? Wrong. Without a follow-up you will rarely land a job. You can do much by simple steps, such as calling up the company no later than two weeks after you submitted your application to get an update on where you're going with that. Knowing if they are serious about considering you is vital to your success. If you get to an interview phase you can give a personal “Thank you” note to your interviewer. This will leave a good impression and it will be something memorable.

However, if your feet are itching to travel further afield and you long to discover the historic sites, exotic dishes and distinctive atmosphere of far-flung shores, you may already be considering the possibility of taking in the sights on a cruise vacation. If cruising appeals to you, your choices are many and varied. Who could resist the glamour of dazzling white Hawaiian beaches, the swaying palm trees that await you on a Caribbean vacation or the lush rain forests to be seen on a journey around the Panama Canal? However, for beach lovers who also long to make a connection with the ancient past, the islands around Greece hold a very special allure. Not only are there beautiful and unspoiled destinations to visit and delicious local wines and dishes to tempt your taste buds, but these are also places that are steeped in the fascinating and mysterious history of the ancient world.

When to Visit the Greek Islands

A lot of people choose to take their Mediterranean cruises during the summer months, in particular the months of July and August. If they are parents, they may need to consider school vacation times and plan their trips accordingly. However, if your schedule is more flexible, perhaps the ideal times to visit the eastern Mediterranean region is during the spring or fall months. During those periods, you can still expect warm and sunny weather during your vacation, although perhaps not the blazing heat to be encountered at the height of summer. As you are traveling outside of the most popular season for vacations, you are likely to find that the places you visit are a little less crowded. You may even find that some special offers are available that could save you money on the cost of a cruise vacation. Another reason for taking your vacation just before or just after the busy season of the summer months is that many Europeans also take their own vacations during that time, so you may even be disappointed to find some of the restaurants, bars and other attractions are closed while their owners are away.

No Two Islands Are the Same…

One of the advantages of a cruise is that calling at various locations during your trip allows you to visit many fantastic ports, which means that if you yearn to spend your vacation exploring the Greek islands, you will have the opportunity to experience the diversity of such islands as Corfu, Santorini, Patmos, Samos and Mykonos. While all the islands have wonderful beaches and tourist resorts and may, at first glance appear quite similar to one another, each has its own distinct character—much as the beaches of California do! It is worth reading a guide book before your vacation in order to fully appreciate the unique appeal of each island. The Corfu Trail which allows you to walk from one end of the island to the other while taking in the beauty of its olive groves and other plant life make it an ideal spot for hikers. In Santorini, don’t forget your camera as there is a wealth of opportunities to do some sightseeing and to explore the island’s picturesque villages. As well as its exquisite beaches, Patmos is also home to a famous monastery. Samos is perhaps the richest in historic sites, while Mykonos enjoys a reputation as a party island, offering its visitors a vibrant and exciting nightlife.

If you take a cruise of the Eastern Mediterranean, it is more than likely that you will also have the chance to stop off at other ports, such as Piraeus in Athens, Greece, Istanbul in Turkey and Venice in Italy. All of these destinations give you an opportunity to explore the wide variety of sights, foods and wines particular to that region and to enjoy the faster pace of Mediterranean city life as well as the tranquility of its beaches.

Spring into Fashion with Leggings

For as long as I can remember I've always loved wearing leggings. The reason why is because not only do they happen to go with everything, they're super comfortable, flattering, and you can wear them during any season. My mom always thinks they'd be too warm to wear, but if you get cotton leggings they're breathable and actually keep you pretty cool.
{via}

There are many other reasons I love leggings that I'm about to delve into, and it just so happens that rue21 has a wide variety of leggings that I adore. Let's take a look at the leggings they have available that I want stat and I'll explain even more reasons why I adore leggings. I happen to think that they're the perfect item of clothing to wear throughout spring:

Fun Patterns

Fun patterns make an outfit really pop, which is why I love trendy leggings like these stencil striped leggings pictured below. I would love to wear these leggings with a basic grey or pink dress and a pair of wedges. This outfit would also look lovely for spring because of the fun colors and they would really stand out. What's more, they're definitely colors that I would love to wear during the spring time and beyond. Printed leggings that come with beautiful prints and patterns are always fun to add to any outfit.

Rue21.com also has a variety of other leggings, from tribal leggings to baroque leggings. They're great if you need some extra pizazz added to your outfit or just happen to prefer a lot of fun patterns.

Don't Sacrifice Comfort for Fashion

Going back to comfort, comfortable fashion has always been a big deal to me. If something isn't comfortable I have a hard time wearing it. I'm not one of those girls who will sacrifice comfort for fashion, which means I hardly ever wear really high heels, tight pants that show every inch of my body, or a really low top just because it's "fashionable". I'd much rather be comfortable and feel okay with what I am wearing, which is why leggings are perfect. They don't "show too much skin" and they're also still really trendy and comfy, especially if they're made of cotton or spandex. Some can be really tight, but that's why it's perfect to wear a lose shirt up top or a dress, that way you're more covered up top but your leggings will still stand out.

Anyway, not to go off on a tangent about sacrificing comfort for fashion, but I am a firm believe that any fashionista can indeed find fashionable clothing that she can be comfortable in. It's just so much easier to feel comfortable in your own skin while wearing comfy clothing that lasts!

Everyone needs a  beautiful and special family portrait that incorporates your past, your present and your future...

The wedding day is always extremely important for a couple. Basically every bride and groom chooses to have a really good photographer to capture their special moments. If you look at the San Francisco City Hall wedding photos, you will see so many white dresses, black groom suits and happy families. There are weddings happening all across the country and the world, everyone is celebrating the magical event. From Alaska to California, every day someone says yes and some photographer captures that “I will be with you forever” look.

Family photographs are absolutely necessary when it comes to celebrating the wedding. It is that special and at the same time it is also a regular photograph that is going to hang on your wall and make you feel like your family is always next to you.

Life is just too short and when there are such powerful events like the wedding happening, we need to have our family and friends surrounding us. It's nice creating memories during a wedding and special occasion and capturing these moments on camera. Just imagine your very cute grandmother with a pink hat, standing right next to you and your man! Isn’t that a photograph you really need and want?!

Family is everything and when you are getting married you are not only forming a new one you are also extending what your grandmother and grandfather started. If you have the possibility to bring all your cousins, uncles, aunts and parents in one photograph, you should definitely do it, because this is what life is about and also this is what a wedding is supposed to look like in photographs.

The wedding pictures, which can show how the family supports the decision of the couple to form a new family, are simply beautiful. One dad’s smile and one mother’s tear of joy, at their daughter’s wedding are the perfect ingredients in creating that special family photograph.

Bring your relatives closer to you in front of the camera, be happy and smile because you are so lucky to have a family that loves and helps you when you are getting married. Wedding family photographs are special, important and simply beautiful because they have the power to incorporate your past, your present and your future.

Why I Crave Yoga & Working Out

Ever since I tried Yoga several years back I haven't stopped loving it. There was something about it that captivated me and I loved that I could just go to a studio, challenge my body in ways I never had before, and relax during a challenging yet invigorating class. Not to mention I've always loved finding Yoga pants and other athletic clothing that makes me feel beautiful and comfortable while I'm at a Yoga or cardio class.

Yoga and cardio classes have become a refuge to me when life gets busy, and that's why I'd really like for it to be a bigger part of my life again, which means me being more consistent. Since my life has been so crazy busy with me moving, spending time with my family and new puppy Candy, I need to find a way to incorporate it again as well as working out regularly. Unfortunately my time to workout has disappeared, and that needs to change. Here's what I have in mind to change that:
{via}

Wearing Sassy Activewear

Since I've always looked to fashionable activewear to motivate me to head to workout classes and Yoga, I got excited when I recently came across the site Sweaty Betty. They have excellent Yoga wear that I can't wait to wear. In particular I am loving their Chandrasana Yoga Leggings. These leggings come in an attractive offshore print. What's more they are made with flattering flatlocked seams and a deep elasticated waistband, which I think will be helpful for hiding those problem areas. ;) I can't wait to get a pair of these Yoga pants and other active wear because they will be ideal as an added style statement during my Yoga practice.

Ask Friends to Keep Me Accountable

I think for me I need some sort of accountability, which will help me stay on track. It's easy for me to stray and use life as an excuse not to workout, but the truth is I love staying active and going to Yoga, and it's up to me to make it happen. I think that friends can help me stay accountable by giving me a gentle reminder that I need to make time to workout because it's something that improves my life in a positive way. I already have a few friends in mind that I'm going to ask to help keep me accountable.

Make a Schedule

Last week I told my brother I had a workout schedule (my brother is a trainer), but I have yet to follow through with it. Starting next week (or sooner!) I am going to follow through with this schedule. My schedule so far includes going to two cardio classes a week and hopefully one Yoga class a week as well. The other two days a week I will be doing my Tone It Up Beach Babe DVD and taking Candy for a half an hour walk. This means I will be working out four days a week and also working on my diet! I certainly have my work cut out for me lol. I'm just happy that I'll have friends, a schedule, and attractive workout apparel to keep me motivated. This plan of action will help me follow through with my goals and remember just how much I love Yoga, and my other workout classes.

Curb Appeal: Three Ideas for Outdoor Storage

It can be difficult enough to plan out storage solutions for in the house and garage. When it comes to the outdoors, many people don’t know what great solutions are available to them to keep their homes, yards, docks, and other outdoor spaces organized. When you add up all the minutes of the week you spend looking for something you need, it becomes clear that it’s well worth it to invest in some organizational and storage solutions to save those minutes in the long run, and eliminate the frustration of not being able to find what you need. Here are a few great solutions for outdoor storage.
{via}

Sheds
If you have some yard space, having an outdoor shed is a fantastic solution to keep organized. You can store tools, gardening tools, hoses, shovels, rakes, and anything else you might need to keep the space tidy without wasting precious garage space. Keep the yard stuff in the yard. Storage sheds often offer the space you need to organize everything well. Invest in some brackets to hang things along the walls, and use the shed for seasonal storage for tomato cages, flower pots, or even holiday decorations that only come out once a year.
{via}

Deck Boxes
Deck boxes are a great solution for tools and utilities you use on a deck, or even for boat supplies on a dock. You’ll want to invest in container door locks to keep your belongings safe, especially if your dock or deck sit far away from your home, and you live in a high traffic or vacation area. Fishing poles, beach towels, lawn chairs, grilling equipment, and even tools to start up that boat motor at the beginning of the year, are all great items to keep stored in a deck box.
Garage Cabinet Systems
If you don’t live in an area where you can easily set up outdoor storage solutions, many companies make incredible garage cabinet systems that keep everything you need tidy and easy to locate. Choose from wall hanging mounts, cupboards, peg board, garden tool storage, and many other features in your garage cabinet system. Depending on the weather where you live, it may even be possible to install a garage storage system along the side of your house or in your backyard if the garage doesn’t offer enough space. It will make your life easier.
